One evening I was sketching some variations of one of my favorite star blocks, and this block appeared.  I fell in love with the triangles surrounding the star, then when I lined them up to see what they would look like, the secondary "bowtie" design appeared!  Named after the first to appear and one of the brightest stars in the sky, the North Star quilt has become a standout in our pattern collection.
